I’m sure everyone knows this place: our one and only Din Tai Fung!!! You can find them in Cali and Seattle too 🙂
I always go to this one in the East Area (東區), between MRT SYS Memorial Hall (國父紀念館) and Zhongxiao Dunhua (忠孝敦化) stations. Not just because it’s close to my place, but also it’s a bigger and nicer dining area than the other branches.
There are soooo many people and tourists (especially Japanese!) every day, but the wait is never too long. I’d say about 15 minutes. There’s also free tea while waiting!
You can see them making xiao long bao! 🙂
The one thing that you MUST order: Xiao Long Bao!!! (小籠包) ❤ ❤ ❤
Their Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) are so delicate….thin skin with juicy meat and soup. Take a bite, let the juice flow, and taste the amazingness. YESSSS! Don’t forget to dip them in soy sauce + vinegar + ginger!
Personally I don’t do 油豆腐細粉 (oily bean curd glass noodles), because I don’t like 油豆腐(oily bean curd) nor 細粉(glass noodles) lol……but my mom enjoyed it, and the soup was good 🙂
Ordered this 菠菜炒百頁 (Stir fried spinach with bai-ye tofu)…..but too oily for me……hot fry places can do a much better job at these.
Din Tai Fung has really good service, and also because it’s so internationally known, most waiters/waitresses speak English and decent Japanese! It’s just that they’re SO busy, you can feel the busy-ness permeating…..if you know what I mean.
*Btw, this branch in the East Area is moving soon, so I will post the transportation for the Yongkang one!
