I’ve only seen this chained Japanese restaurant once last year, but coming back to Taiwan a year later, there are apparently more of them taking place in the city.
This place is pretty interesting. It’s supposed to be a Japanese restaurant that sells Japanese food, but it also provides free and unlimited Taiwanese side dishes (小菜), soup, and drinks (even soy milk)! Taiwanese and Japanese at the same time? Say what!
Consequently, it’s pretty popular in the neighborhood.
It sells everything from donburi and ramen to yakitori and curry rice.
There were a lot of people. We had to wait for about 10 minutes, and the inside was just hectic! (not a very good dining atmosphere….) I wasn’t a big fan of the interior design either. You don’t just put a painting by every single table! That’s not art!
The ramen was just okay. It tastes like something you can get at a department store food court. Personally I wouldn’t pay more than 120NT for it. (Sorry, forgot to take a picture!)
Mom got a seafood donburi and I got a salmon donburi. I honestly didn’t enjoy it. The seafood and sashimi were average, but the rice was just so crazy sour. Too much vinegar bro!!!
So yea….overall, I’d say their free and unlimited stuff are better than their actual meals lol. But if you’d like to have some cheap and fulfilling Japanese meal, go for it!
